any ideas where i can pick up a decent stater rig. prefer a yota w/o ifs or and older xj withan in line 6. mechanically inclined so a little elbow grease to save $$ isnt a prob. not looking for a basket case but not afraid to get dirty tweakin and fixin

Best suggestion I can give you, is keep watching the local papers, you sound like you know what you want, don't settle for less, I've seen XJs for right around $1000, and I've seen older Toyota pickups for less than that, just keep one thing in mind, odds are, you'll never get what you put into a rig out of it, unless you factor in enjoyment. If I run across any good deals in the papers up here, I'll post up, and another member here knows somebody who may be selling a Toyota that may fit your needs perfectly, I'll call him tonight, and have him post up about it.

yea, been doin a little research. they are both good rigs for rockin, trailin and just plain muddin. enjoyment comes two-fold, buildin and playin. Cheap is always good and i appreciate you looking around. hope to catch up with you all on the trails or in the clay pit

www.craigslist.org/there is usually allot of rigs under the SF BAY listings. it may be a little far for you to travel but i thought i would throw it out there. there are Chico listings also but i have not seen too many rigs for sale under Chico. good luck.
